Sometimes a data file can't be opened and will give an error such as Unrecognized database format, No read permission, Invalid password or other obscure error messages. To correct this, first try going to the Maintenance Menu and clicking Compact. Follow the prompts to compact the file.

 

For group practices, switch to a different doctor's file then go to Maintenance > Repair data file. Locate the doctor's file you are having trouble with and follow the prompts to repair it. If the repair is successful, you will be able to open the file. After this you may need to refresh the list of doctors.
