The AHSA has a different fee schedule for each state of Australia. The schedule that should be used is determined by the state in which the provider number is registered. Usually a doctor working in two states will have a different provider number for the separate locations. The patient's home state or state of fund membership are not relevant in this regard.
It is assumed that this convention also applies to other funds with state-specific schedules, although we have not confirmed this.
