Since November 2012, item 55054 is not claimable with any item in the T10 group, that is, an anaesthetic item. It can be claimed on its own for a non-anaesthetic procedure, but if included with an anaesthetic procedure, it will be rejected. Or depending on the vagaries of Medicare, perhaps the anaesthetic item will be rejected.

 

So the item still exists in the schedule, but can't be claimed as part of an anaesthetic service.
